    Get Smart with your SmartPhone!

By Billy the Ant the 2 August 2010

    Aug

In recent years we have seen technology soar, providing us with all kinds of electronic devices that aid in the living of our day-to-day lives. None, in my opinion has been so influential as the mobile phone. Since the first mobile was released in the early 1970′s, mobile technology has advanced to an extreme. The once brick-like phones that had to be carried in brief cases are now so small and light that they can be worn on a belt, in your jeans pocket or in a dainty, evening clutch-bag with no bother and we at Letsbuyit.co.uk never fail to be impressed!

In the last year, we have seen this amazing technology progress even further. The introduction of social networking on the mobile phone has exploded! Now when you’re sat on the bus, at a friend’s house or pretending to send an ‘important email’, you can be tweeting, facebooking, myspacing, and all the other ings from your mobile! And with the introduction of android technology, whereby you can install apps on your phone, you really can take procrastination to the next level! We love it!

So, as a homage to the mobile Gods of Samsung, Motorola, Apple and many more we have put together 15 of the very BEST smartphones you can get your hands on to have you kitted out with technology that has literally just been invented! Pretty cool eh! And what’s more is that Letsbuyit.co.uk is an entirely impartial site meaning these products have been hand-picked on their merits to ensure you that you get the best brand rather than the brand who pays best!

We at Letsbuyit.co.uk LOVE the iPhone 4. Its technology is so advance that without trying to sound like I am completely pre-historic, it astounds me! However, for those of you who would rather not shell out 500 quid plus for the brand new iPhone 4 or who would just prefer not to buy into the craze, we have plenty of other options. With smartphones from the top phone companies beginning to rival the iPhone’s technology, no-one has to miss out!

Make sure you pay us a visit at Letsbuyit.co.uk for the BEST prices on the HOTTEST products! And don’t forget to get your SmartPhone before it goes HERE!

Feel free to comment on this blog to let us know what you think of the iPhone or any of our other products!? Do you like how far the technology has advanced or are you happier with a phone that simply calls and texts?

    Apple Magic Mouse

By Billy the Ant the 11 February 2010

    Feb

The Apple Magic Mouse is a revolutionary new addition to the mouse family and is the world’s first multi-touch mouse. It has a delicate yet sturdy bridge-shaped slim line design, a bit like a bar of soap! There are no buttons but one piece of clear plastic on the top which is touch sensitive enabling a new level of scrolling and clicking using the whole surface of the mouse.

    Apple Magic Mouse

    Apple Magic Mouse

You can use both right and left clicks and the ambidextrous construction allows you to inverse the function to make it great for both righties or lefties. But on top of that, the construction of the Magic Mouse allows you to scroll through pages and use any amount of fingers at one time. By using two fingers you can flick through photos or web pages and scroll 360 degrees around the page by making a circle on the mouse. You can also click with one finger and scroll with another, letting you highlight blocks of text like you would on a normal mouse.

The mouse is easy to install and carry with you which makes it great to use with laptop computers as well as desktops. It connects using Bluetooth so you no need for any extra wires and is also powered by 2 AA batteries with up to four months use per charge.

It uses standard laser technology for tracking, which means, although it works on most surfaces, including jeans and chairs, it will not track on more glossy surfaces like glass. However it does glide well along the table top thanks to the two plastic bars on the mouse’s underside that minimize contact with whatever surface it is on.

Watch this video to see it in action.

Microsoft has also recently brought out a new product to the mouse market which, differing slightly to the Magic Mouse, it concentrates on lightness and ergonomics. The Microsoft ARC benefits from a unique appearance and collapsible design which works very well with laptop computers. You can also use this mouse with your left or right hand and is designed to make it comfortable either way. An extra benefit with this mouse is that it can be used with either Macs or PCs.

Google Nexus One vs. Apple iPhone

By Billy the Ant the 8 January 2010

    Jan

With the recent release of the Google Nexus One in the states I thought I’d spend some time comparing its basic features to the ever popular Apple iPhone.

The two phones are similar in appearance but function quite differently, some has ever gone as far as calling the Nexus One the “iPhone Killer”.

    Let’s have a look…

    Google Nexus One
    - Unlocked: The Nexus One is being sold unlocked so customers can purchase service plans separate from the mobile.
    - Price: While the price has not been released in the UK, we can assume it will be around the US price $529 unlocked (330GBP).
    - Applications: The Nexus One features between 15,000 and 20,000 applications.
    - Camera: 5 megapixels, flash, autofocus
    - Screen: 480×800 pixel resolution screen, 3.7in touch screen display
    - Weight: 4.69 ounces
    - Operating System: Android
    - Manufacturer: HTC

    Source: techtree.com

    Source: techtree.com

    Apple iPhone 3GS
    - Locked: It’s true the iPhone can be purchased unlocked, it is generally sold locked with contracts with either O2 or Orange.
    - Price: Around £700 and up unlocked 16 GB.
    - Applications: more than 100,000
    - Camera: 3.2 megapixels, no flash, autofocus
    - Screen: 480×320 pixel resolution, 3.5in widescreen multi-touch display
    - Weight: 4.8 ounces
    - Operating System: iPhone OS 3.0
    - Manufacturer: Apple

It’s clear that Google has spent much time and effort studying the iPhone’s best and worst qualities while developing innovations and improvements to create what they hope will become the  best selling smartphone of 2010.

    So what does this mean????

It means that the Google Nexus One could very well give the iPhone a run for its money! In the end it all comes down to usability, quality and durability.

    Apple Tablet?

By Billy the Ant the 10 September 2009

    Sep

Rumours have swirling around for about a year that Apple is about to come out with a tablet computer. Rumours suggest the tablet is supposed to be like a large iPod touch, with a screen size of maybe 10 inches diagonally along with the 3G network. The launch is expected to be before Christmas and some websites have speculated maybe even this month.

Some people believe that this Apple tablet will be a rival with Amazon’s Kindle as it may provide the same functions as the typical e-reader among others.

While no one but Apple knows what the tablet will actually look like, here are some mock ups from what some artists expect:

MAC OS X Snow Leopard… It’s Finally Here!

By Billy the Ant the 27 August 2009

    Aug

Tomorrow, August 28, Apple will launch its long awaited Mac OS X Snow Leopard Operating System, which they claim will be “the world’s most advanced operating system”.

It is supposed to be faster, easier to use and more reliable than the previous version (Mac OS X Leopard). Not to mention it also frees up 7GB of space (enough to hold 1,500 more songs or thousands more photos).

    Source: gadgetreview.com

    Source: gadgetreview.com

Some of the new advanced features include: faster time to wake up, shut down and join a wireless network, faster installation, higher resolution iChat, faster more powerful Safari, more efficient file sharing and much much more!

But if you’re hesitant to upgrade to this new version because you don’t want to have to take the time to learn how to use an entire new operating system don’t be. As Apple says the new MAC OS X Snow Leopard has “been refined, not reinvented”.

Best of all it only costs 25 pounds to upgrade to MAC OS X Snow Leopard!

    The New iPod Shuffle Talks

By Billy the Ant the 14 May 2009

    May

If you already love your current iPod Shuffle, you might like this one even better! Apple just realeased the new iPod Shuffle, which no longer has a display… Instead it TALKS TO YOU!

This iPod Shuffle tells you per VoiceOver which song is playing and what band you are listening to. It also helps you navigating your playlists. An interesting new feature that needs to be tested. So here’s my opinion:

    New iPod Shuffle
    .
    Source: Apple.com

    :-) Pros:

    • a higher capacity: now 4GB instead of 2GB
    • a great design (it really might be ”the world’s smallest music player”)
    • VoiceOver speaks 14 languages

    :-( Cons:

    • no buttons other than the shuffle mode switch on the iPod, all the controls are on the earbud cord, which means that YOU HAVE TO use Apple’s own earbuds
    • battery life is shorter, you now get only 10 instead of 12 hours out of it
    • more expensive than the old Shuffle (in 1GB form) as it costs $80 instead of $50.

This is just me, but – other than the higher capacity – I don’t find the new iPod Shuffle a great improvement. The VoiceOver feature is actually quite annoying and not very useful to find songs quickly. What do you think?
